Brass Lessons

(AGES FIVE AND UP)

Overview

Our brass instructors teach folk, country, reggae and rock-n-roll styles — and classical too. Beginners work on embouchure, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. Each lesson will challenge you with a new technique or music theory, and ends with something fun – such as your favorite riff or song. Many of our woodwind students take on the challenge of auditioning for All Shore, Regions and All State bands. Manasquan Music Academy is proud to say many of our students achieve such goals. Also, many students from all over the state of New Jersey audition to be in Manasquan Music Academy’s highly competitive Summer Jazz Ensemble.

What’s the #1 reason to study brass at Manasquan Music Academy?

Our brass instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with you to craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student’s favorite type of music. Whether you’re playing in local bands, a seven year old taking their first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to the instrument after many years, we’ll set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

What styles of brass do you teach?

Brass lessons feature all types of music, from classical and orchestral pieces to jazz to blues to rock & roll and nearly everything in between.

How qualified are your brass instructors?

Our brass and music instructors have received their education from prestigious institutions such as the Berklee College of Music, Rutgers, Rowan, Cairn University, Monmouth University, and Brookdale. Many have toured the US and Europe, and bring over 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience to your lessons. Our brass staff have emphasis placed on fundamentals and developing tone, technique and musicality as well as standard repertoire. Improvisation is also taught.

What will I learn from brass lessons at MMA School of Music?

Beginner brass students who are just learning to assemble their instruments and produce a sound can benefit from solid, expert instruction. Advanced students might be looking to refine their tone and technique, move up a chair in their school band, or might be considering a music degree in college. MMA’s brass instrument lessons ensure that you will master all of the techniques needed to enjoy playing brass instruments. Our instructors are personable and eager to teach, making sure that a student’s learning is both on track and enjoyable.
